ASTM A352 Grade LCC is a ferritic carbon steel casting alloy designed for pressure-containing parts that require good notch toughness at sub-zero temperatures. It is commonly utilized in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries for manufacturing valves, fittings, and flanges operating down to -50°F (-46°C).

Key Chemical Composition

LCC is a low-carbon, low-alloy variant. The maximum allowed limits for its primary elements include: 

• Carbon (C): 0.25% max
• Manganese (Mn): 1.20% max
• Silicon (Si): 0.60% max
• Phosphorus (P): 0.04% max
• Sulfur (S): 0.05% max 

Mechanical Properties

This material provides reliable strength and impact resistance:

• Tensile Strength: 70,000 to 95,000 psi (485–655 MPa)
• Yield Strength: 40,000 psi (275 MPa) minimum
• Charpy V-Notch (CVN) Impact Test: 13 ft-lbs (18 Joules) minimum at -50°F
