Steam conditioning valves

A steam conditioning valve is a specialized device that simultaneously reduces and regulates both the pressure and temperature of superheated steam to match the requirements of a downstream process or turbine bypass system.

Steam conditioning valves simultaneously reduce the temperature and pressure of superheated steam. These control valves inject water into the steam directly downstream of the vena contracta, utilizing the very high velocities created, which ensures that steam and water are mixed optimally

• Pressure Reduction: The valve uses a multi-stage trim (or a cage) with precise perforations to throttle the steam, stepping it down from a high-pressure system to a lower-pressure system. This design also reduces noise and vibration
• Temperature Reduction (Desuperheating): It features built-in atomizing spray nozzles that inject a controlled amount of cooling water directly into the high-velocity steam flow. The extreme velocity of the steam finely atomizes the water, turning it into steam and lowering the overall temperature
